Stan's World Cup Song", also known as "Aye Aye Ippy The Germans Bombed Our Chippy", [1] is a song by English comedian Stan Boardman. It is set to the tune of "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain" and the Dambusters March. [2] It was released to coincide with the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Boardman appeared in the 2000 gangster film set in Liverpool, Going Off Big Time. [9]In June 2006 he had a hit with "Stan's World Cup Song", which reached No. 15 in the UK Singles Chart.
The song also made an allusion to comedian Stan Boardman's German jokes with the line, "They bombed our chip shops". Boardman, who also wrote a World Cup song, " Stan's World Cup Song ", stated that he felt Cleese's use of his joke was "very cheeky" and didn't believe that Cleese had a chip shop in his hometown of Weston-Super-Mare .
Sandler introduced the song on “Saturday Night Live” in 1994, so it’s relatively new. Some holiday songs go back to the Civil War. Some are even older than that — and, sound like it.
