The Quartz Mountain Resort Arts and Conference Center is a resort located 17 miles north of Altus in the Wichita Mountains of southwestern Oklahoma, United States. It is two and a half hours from Oklahoma City, four hours from Dallas, near the Texas border and 9 miles (14 km) west of Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on State Highway 44A.
The community is eight miles north of Elk City, Oklahoma. [2] It was named in commemoration of Benjamin Carpenter, an early settler of western Oklahoma who moved there from Texas in 1898. [3] It was established as a Post Office on March 19, 1901, "named for Benjamin Carpenter, local rancher". [4]

Harding Fine Arts Academy was founded in 2005 by attorney John L. Belt.
