The city is home to Staffordshire University, formerly North Staffordshire Polytechnic, with its main site in Shelton, near Stoke-on-Trent railway station. It gained its university status in 1992 as one of the post-1992 universities. Keele University School of Medicine uses facilities at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill.

Beaconside is an area of Stafford, England.It is home to the Ministry of Defence's Stafford site, which was formerly a Royal Air Force base. [1] Staffordshire University's Stafford campus was also located in the area until its closure in 2014. [2]
