My 64 starts to misfire when firing pin channel gets dirty. If firing pin is not sliding smoothly in channel, it'll make light strikes. 06-22-2017, 07:44 AM #4. pinger22. Guest. I took both advice check on both areas on the last cleaning. I did notice when lubing I changed on where & how much lube to use.
The installation was not a problem, maybe 5 minutes and no broken parts or other problems. The sights are highly visible and it shoots to point of aim with no additional adjustments. If I had another 64 or 62 I would order another one again. 04-14-2021, 11:25 AM #19. Papa_D.
I bought my kids Savage .22s for Christmas this year. # model 64s and a model 64fl. The 3 64s fire perfectly, however the 64fl misfires almost every other round. I load the clip and chamber the first round, pull the trigger and it fires, ejects, and chambers the next round. Pull the trigger for the second shot and only get a click.
Model 64 Trigger Job. As yÂ’all probably all know the Model 64’s trigger leaves something to be desired. There is a lot of play and over travel and the pull isn’t the lightest either. So I figured I’d tear into it to see what I can do to remedy itÂ’s short comings. I don’ have a “before” reading, but I got the pull weight down ...
Actually the savage 64 does have a little aftermarket support. DIP inc has an awesome extend magazine release and an extended bolt knob. You can also replace the iron sights with the fiber optic sights from the stainless steel savage 64(i did have to file the base of the rear fiber optic sight so it would sit a little lower and not shoot high).

The Cooey model 64 was meant to start production in 1964 to ...
Dating Serial Numbers with a Letter Prefix. All Savage firearms manufactured after December 1968 have a serial number which will have a letter prefix. This was done to clearly identify which firearms were manufactured after the Gun Control Act of 1968 went into effect. The graphic below outlines the starting and ending serial number for each ...
64F Jamming. Hello, I bought a Savage 64 F about four months ago and it has a problem. When I use hollow point ammo they jam up against the bottom back edge of the barrel. This happened the first time I went to shoot at the range. I had a box of hollow points and a box of round points. The round points shot fine.
The Savage Model 64 design dates back to the mid-late 1960’s when Lakefield Arms first started producing them. It was a low-cost, simple design that was offered as a cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive semi-auto rimfires of the time (Remington Nylon 66, Ruger 10/22, etc.).
Forum Rules. Hello, I am new to the Savage model 64. I have only about 50 rounds through it and I have bent 5 .22 bullets. Here is my problem/question. I load the magazine, I chamber 1 and shoot, the next one will not feed and will keep the bolt wedged open. The bullet will be bent upwards above the barrel hole. I eject that and rack another one.
