It has a matte black finish with Savage standard SA and 22" sporter barrel, non-Accutrigger, side bolt release and older style rectangle safety. I decided to change that and this month offer a Model 111GL chambered in .25-06 Remington. The Model 111GL falls into the Hunter Series of rifles along with all of the 11/111G and the 11/111F models. The G-models feature a birch hardwood stock while the F-models feature a plastic composite stock. Outside of that difference the models are ...
299. I have 2 of the pre-accutrigger flat back actions that started life as 7mm mag sporters. One still sits as it came from the factory, the other I have a number of different barrels for. An action wrench and barrel nut wrench are the tools you need to swap barrels out, some here use go/no-go gauges and some don't.
Dating Serial Numbers with a Letter Prefix. All Savage firearms manufactured after December 1968 have a serial number which will have a letter prefix. This was done to clearly identify which firearms were manufactured after the Gun Control Act of 1968 went into effect. The graphic below outlines the starting and ending serial number for each ...
Savage launched the Model 10/110 and 11/111 Trophy Hunter series of centerfire package rifles in 2012 which replaced the bulk of the previously offered package rifle models. In an effort to cut costs to keep the price down, Savage chose to utilize the Axis style magazines in these models rather than the Premium Centerfeed DBM system magazine ...
The short-action Model 110 became the Model 10, while the long-action model remained the Model 110. The Model 110 is the basis for the entire line of Savage centerfire bolt-action rifles, including the Models 11/111, 12, 14/114, 16/116, and Model 210 bolt-action shotgun as well as the Stevens Model 200.
I recently acquired an early Savage Model 111 .30-06 that requires the side release magazine. I have searched and searched with no luck in finding this magazine. Anyone out there in the Savage Shooters that can help me? Thanks. They are hard to find and out of stock most places.

Model 111 in 270. Picked up the Model 111 at my LGS Wednesday for $375 OTD. Nice looking rifle with accu-trigger. Previous owner did not abuse it and from the looks of the bolt face it hasn't been shot that much though when I cleaned it, the bore was a copper mine. It has a bright blue finish and the usual "Tupperware" stock.
I have picked up my second Savage rifle [first was a Savage .22 semi-auto]. This .270 has had a little work done to it [Timney trigger, Falcon scope & Choate stock]. I wanted to get the date of manufacture. It's an H621xxx serial number. The Savage website part finder does not date the build at all, all I got was a parts diagram.
