Hu Yidao's infant son, Hu Fei, was rescued and raised by a waiter, Ping Asi, whose life Hu Yidao once saved. Hu Fei (胡斐; Hú Fěi) is the son of Hu Yidao and the protagonist. Hu Yidao ( 胡一刀 ; Hú Yīdāo ) is a forthright and gregarious hero whose skills are legendary. He hopes to resolve the past feuds between the four families that have lasted since their ancestors' time.
Hu Yidao’s wife, who suspects foul play from outsiders, asks Miao Renfeng to take care of her son, then commits suicide. Tian Guinong orders Yan Chi to kill the child and steal Hu Yidao’s kung fu manual, but Yan is knocked unconscious by uncle, who ends up raising Hu Fei after he escapes Tian Guinong.
