Webster County is a county located in the west central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census reflected a population of 2,348, [ 1 ] making it the third-least populous county in Georgia.
The wooden jail (pictured at left) was the first jail built for the county between 1855 and 1856. It housed prisoners until the brick jail (right) was constructed in 1910. Webster County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse in Preston, Georgia, the county seat for Webster County, Georgia. It was built in 1915 and was designed in Neoclassical style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1980. It is located on Courthouse Square. It was designed by T.F. Lockwood, Sr. [2]
