The hospital was founded by surgeons Joseph Sheehan and Jimmy Sheehan, who had established the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin. [2] It was built at a cost of €100 million and opened in June 2004. [ 3 ] It brought radiation therapy , cardiac surgery and PET / CT scanning to the west of Ireland for the first time.
Doughiska now has a primary and secondary school serving the area. Doughiska also has a park, several playing pitches, basketball and tennis court as well as a skateboard park. The area is also served by two hospitals with Merlin Park University Hospital to the west and the private Galway Clinic to the east of Doughiska.
The hospital, which was commissioned as a tuberculosis sanitarium, was designed by Norman White. [2] It was built on the site of Merlin Park House, a late Georgian property, and opened in 1953. [3]

Greater Madawaska is an incorporated township in Renfrew County in eastern Ontario, Canada, [1] created on January 1, 2001, through the amalgamation of the Township of Bagot and Blythfield, the Township of Brougham, and the Township of Griffith and Matawatchan. [3] As of 2021, it has a population of 2,864. [2]
