The college has more than 2,500 teaching and non-teaching staff and is the largest public college or university in Nevada. [1] [2] It is part of the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Following a period of inactivity, the college was re-founded in Reno in 1886. In 1951, an extension campus was created in Las Vegas. In 1957, the extension became the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. [3] In 1971, the College of Southern Nevada was founded to serve the growing population of Nevada.
