Smithville Lake is a 7,190-acre (29 km 2) reservoir on the Little Platte branch of the Platte River in Clay County, Missouri near Smithville. It provides the water supply for Smithville, Missouri and Plattsburg, Missouri .
Smithville is a city in Clay and Platte counties in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area, along the Little Platte River. The population was 10,406 at the 2020 United States Census . [ 4 ] .

Smithville Township, occupying 79 sq mi (200 km 2) of land and 120.3 sq mi (312 km 2) of water, is located on the Atlantic Ocean coast and encompasses the towns of Oak Island, Southport, Caswell Beach, and Bald Head Island. [1] It is the site of the Brunswick Nuclear Generating Station.
The rest of the parkland was acquired from the city of Smithville. [2] Companies 1805 and 1811 of the Civilian Conservation Corps built many of the park facilities between 1933 and 1939 using native stone to better blend with the surrounding landscape. [2] When it opened in 1940, the park was 1,738 acres (703 ha).
