The film begins with a thief, Shankar, who coerces his elder son, Ram, into the craft, eclipsing his future. Knowing it, his wife Gauri discards the children when Shankar withholds the younger one, Shyam. Years roll by, and with her hardship, Gauri molds Ram as a fine man. He marries a wise woman, Seeta. They live a merry, and Seeta gets pregnant.
