The first world record in the men's javelin throw was recognised by the International Association of Athletics Federations in 1912. [ 1 ] As of 21 June 2009, 46 world records have been ratified by the IAAF in the event. [ 1 ]
The javelin throw is a track and field event where the javelin, a spear about 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in length, is thrown as far as possible. The javelin thrower gains momentum by running within a predetermined area. Javelin throwing is an event of both the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon.
Nadeem's fourth round throw was also in the 87 metre range. In the fifth round, Vadlejch threw 86.67m to move into bronze position. Chopra's win was the first Gold Medal at the World Championships for India. [ 3 ]
For the men's javelin throw event, 32 athletes were eligible to qualify for the event with a maximum of three athletes per nation. The qualification could be secured either by achieving the entry standard of 85.50 m in the qualification period (between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024) or by the World Athletics Ranking for the event.
