Sri Raja Rajeshwara Temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples in Telangana, India, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in the town of Vemulawada , Telangana, India . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Historically the region was the capital of the Vemulawada Chalukyas who ruled from 750 to 973 CE.
The temple is located in Tiruchotruturai, a village in Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri, 10 km from Thanjavur, and 3 km from Thiruvaiyaru on the Thirukandiyur - Thanjavur road. The temple has three prakarams (closed precincts of a temple) and many mandapams (halls).
In 1984, the temple underwent renovation under the leadership of Mr. SLP Mohan and held a 48-day-long consecration ceremony. The renovation included two 4.2m statues of Garuda and Hanuman, at the entrance of the temple, said to be the first in Singapore and Asia.
