Clean 79' ammo, no tarnish or corrosion anywhere. However, a very pungent "oldish" smell from the cardboard. All four 240 round battle packs show no difference. All carboard in excellent, no visible stain condition. I've been keeping them in .30 ammo cans with desiccant packs. I can't remember where I purchased this from, but it's been about 3 ...
Passed the Magnet test BTW. The sparking is likely from the effects of spalling on the target face caused by the impact of the hard hitting 7.62 Nato ammo. The Bullet hits, and causes small fragments of steel to break away from the face and impact other steel, throwing sparks. As for the Surplus stuff from AIM...I don't know. Hans

The typical "stock" M1A will shoot ANY quality bullet/ammo from 125 t0 180 grains about 2x to 3x better than ANY surplus/NATO ammo (or reload made with this bullet). Some people even shoot 110 grain stuff at short ranges with very good or better accuracy. THERE IS NO "best" bullet weight between 110-180 grains. NONE, zilch, zero.
Radway Green 5.56. Looks like the Radway stuff must be running out. None left at Wideners, Aim, and , and ASSuming Miday is out too. Sportsmans Guide raised theirs to $159, and Ammunition to Go is up to $179 a can (720 rds). I thinks Pats still has it at $139.

So you say but sgt_mike we can buy M80 surplus, true but someone is buying the componets and re-assembling them therefore driving US surplus cost up. now the CMP surplus LC 30-06 comes to mind IIRC they assumed the stockpile prior to the law (Thank Pres. Reagan) therefore is exempted (BTW the ammo is donated by the Army not sold).
