Carlos Montemayor in 2009. Carlos Montemayor (June 13, 1947 – February 28, 2010) was a Mexican novelist, poet, essayist, literary critic, tenor, political analyst, and promoter of contemporary literature written in indigenous languages.
Two collections of poetry, Palabras de Elena and What Makes Bones Talk have been published in book form, and other collections, such as Chiapas en el Corazón and Cantos de Chihuahua, were published in periodicals and journals.
