Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) operates all public K-12 schools in Charlotte County, Florida. It covers Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, Rotonda West, Babcock Ranch, and surrounding areas. It operates ten elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, and six specialty education centers.
Two schools are adjacent to the Rotonda West area: L.A. Ainger Middle School [15] and Vineland Elementary School. The high school located near Rotonda West is Lemon Bay High School. [16] Both schools have received an A from the state more than five years in a row. [17] All schools are located outside of the community.
Previously it had the name Englewood, probably given to it by the Florida Midland Railroad. The name was changed to Vineland in 1924, supposedly due to confusion with Orange City, Florida . A Post Office opened at Orange Center in 1912, [ 1 ] and was renamed Vineland in 1918.

Several private schools are also located within Englewood. Englewood Christian Academy, Heritage Christian Academy, and Genesis Christian Academy [16] offer grades K–12. L.A. Ainger Middle School, a public school serving grades 6–8, located in nearby Rotonda West, Florida, is the nearest public middle school.
