Georgia State Route 52 in Whitfield County, with Grassy Mountain in the background. From its western terminus at exit 333 on I-75 in Dalton, SR 52 runs due east along Walnut Avenue into and through downtown Dalton in Whitfield County, curving northeast at Walnut Square Mall to come to its junction with US 76, where it becomes concurrent with US 76.
Lumpkin is located at U.S. Route 27 passes west of the city, leading north 37 miles (60 km) to Columbus and south 132 miles (212 km) to Tallahassee, Florida. Georgia State Route 27 also passes through the city, leading southwest 24 miles (39 km) to Georgetown on the Alabama state line and east 9 miles (14 km) to Richland.
Georgia State Route 115 in Lumpkin County. SR 115 begins just northeast of the Chestatee River at an intersection with US 19/SR 60 (South Chestatee Street), south of Dahlonega, in Lumpkin County. This intersection marks the northern terminus of SR 400.
The first portion of the roadway that is signed as SR 108 today makes its appearance on Georgia state road maps in the middle of 1933, when a route signed as SR 108, and measuring 19.6 miles (31.5 km), ran from Jasper, at the intersection of SR 5 and SR 53 at the time, north into Cartecay in Lumpkin County, to what was then signed as SR 43, and which corresponds to SR 52 today.
