Dexter is a city in Washtenaw County, Michigan, in the United States. As of the 2020 United States census , [ 4 ] the population was 4,500. Established in 1830 as a village, Dexter was incorporated as a city on November 20, 2014.

Dexter Township is a civil township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,696 at the 2020 census . [ 3 ] The city of Dexter is located to the southeast but does not border the township, and the two are administered autonomously.
