Spur 487 was designated on January 30, 1970, from Loop 374 (now Bus. US 83) in McAllen south along Ware Road to US 83. On December 19, 1996, by district request, Spur 487 was cancelled and transferred to UR 2220 (now FM 2220) to provide a continuous route for FM 2220.

Spur 98 was designated on May 9, 1940, from SH 16 near the south end of the Guadalupe River Bridge at Kerrville to the then-new State Negro Sanitarium (now Kerrville State Hospital) as a redesignation of SH 248. On August 27, 1978, the road was extended northwest 1.8 miles (2.9 km). Spur 98 was cancelled on April 29, 2010, and changed to Loop 98.
Spur 536 is located in Bexar County. It runs from I-10/I-35/US 87 to I-410/US 281. Spur 536 was designated on February 23, 1978, on the current route along an old routing of US 281, which was rerouted onto I-37. Spur 536 was proposed for decommissioning in 2014 as part of a TxDOT turnback program, but the program was rejected.
