Girish Chandra Sen (c. 1834-1910), a Brahmo missionary, was the first to translate the entire Quran into Bengali. He published it gradually between 1881 and 1883. The Assamese translation, published by Bina Library, Guwahati, Assam, is now in its sixth reprint. A new edition of his Bangla translation of the Quran has been published in June 2014.
