MacEwan University (/ məˈkjuːən / mə-KEW-ən) is a public undergraduate university located in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Formerly a two-year college, [1] in 2009 it became Alberta's sixth university. MacEwan University offers ten baccalaureate degrees, one applied degree and 43 diploma and certificate programs.

USPORTS associations oversee the Canada West Universities Athletic Association regional conferences for which the MacEwan Griffins are members.
Johns is a member of the Sucker Creek First Nation in northern Alberta. [1] She grew up on her traditional territory in Treaty 8. She lived in Adelaide, Australia from ages 14 to 16. [2] Johns majored in English at Grant MacEwan University and has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia.
