2. Divide the oval in half vertically and horizontally. The easiest way to draw a face is to use dividing lines to map out the proportions of the features. First, draw a line down the center of the oval. Then cut the oval in half again, this time horizontally. 3. Add another horizontal line to illustrate the nose.
Step 2: Begin Adding Facial Details. From the bottom left curve of the circle, draw a light line down for the back of the neck and another line underneath your chin curve on the right. About halfway down the circle on the right, draw a line outwards that then curves back in towards the circle. This will form the nose.
Step 8: Draw the hair. Draw the upper hairline somewhere in between line A and B. It’s up to you how large you want the forehead to be. To draw a receding hairline, go above line A. When you’re drawing a man’s face, bring in hair from the sides of the head to create a solid and visible looking hairline.
Step 7: Sketching the Facial Structure. The next thing that helps to define facial proportions is to refine the facial structure. We do this by using our reference image and seeing how the lines are formed around the features of the face. We want to notice how far the bottom of the chin is from the lower lips.
Place the catch light in the same place on both eyes (half in the pupil, half in the iris). 1. Create a Line Drawing. Use the grid method and a mechanical pencil to create a line drawing of a nose and eyes together. Notice how the vertical line drawn down from the corner of the eyes lines up with the edge of the nose.

Now continue the vertical line until it touches the chin. Draw the eye and chin lines. If you notice, the length from the eye level to the chin is roughly the same from the eye line to the top of the circle. The eye line is midway through the face. Now you can just connect everything, so it resembles a head.
1. Drawing the head shape. The way I draw the initial head shape is by starting with a large circle (1). I then make a vertical line dividing the face in half (2) and add a centered, small horizontal line a bit below the circle, which will be the chin (3). *The shorter you make this horizontal line, the narrower/pointer your chin will be.

Step 4: Draw Facial Construction Lines. Through the center of the head, draw a vertical and horizontal line. Split the bottom section of the face in half and then in half again. Do the same thing for the top section of the face. These lines are for the eyes, nose, lips and hair.
Then, draw two lines at the sides of the vertical line in the center, along the borders of the two little circles. Afterwards, draw two horizontal lines below the center of the big circle. Finally, draw two vertical lines next to the borders of the rectangle. The construction lines to draw a face are finished and can be seen above.
5. Add a mouth. Make a flat, rounded "V" shape that is dips below the lowest line. That will be the bottom of the lower lip. Join that smile line with a wide, soft "M" shape—the top of the upper lip. Draw a very soft "m" shape between the two, which defines the separation of the lips, and the lip ratio.
