5e doesn't contain any distinction between the two. (Note: the pike, which you didn't ask about, is also identical to the glaive and halberd in its combat stats. The pike, however, does not benefit from the first bullet-point of Polearm Master, and so is strictly inferior--mechanically speaking--to either of the glaive or halberd.)
3- Multiclasses are allowed. 4- Must use Glaive (DUH) 5- Any race is allowed but i am not fond of monster races. 6- I am looking for damage build not a tank one. 7- If there is some warlock subclass that can work that would be great to have even if a multiclass level. 8- I love mobility but its not necessary.
No, but you can use the shield spell. As Thomas' answer elaborates, there is no way to attack with a glaive while you have donned a physical shield, as the shield does not leave both of your hands free. 1 You also cannot get rid of and re-equip a shield fast enough, as both donning or doffing one to benefit from its AC bonus take an action (p ...

hexblade glaive build. D&D 5e. Just noticed that a glaive is both a polearm and a heavy weapon, so in theory should be usable with both the Great Weapon Master feat and the Pole Arm Master feat. This seems like it would be brutal on a hexblade particularly, because of how many bonuses they stack on their attacks.

You shouldn't have much difficulty convincing your DM to permit you to buy a homebrew scythe with the stats of a glaive.

A player wielding a polearm weapon such as a glaive does not suffer from disadvantage when attacking an adjacent (5' away) enemy. Reach This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you attack with it, as well as when determining your reach for opportunity attacks with it. All a reach weapon does is increase your melee attack range by an ...
