Tracy City, named after Benjamin Franklin Tracy, developed out of railroad and mining interest after coal was found in 1840. Tracy City was incorporated in 1915 and is the home to the Dutch Maid Bakery, the oldest family bakery in Tennessee, which opened in 1902.
