The town of Holbrook was originally part of Randolph, and began to achieve a separate identity with the formation of the Second Randolph Church (or East Parish) in 1818.A schism within the East Parish led to the formation of the Winthrop Congregational Church, whose first sanctuary was built in 1857-58.
