The Death Valley expedition was an 1891 expedition to discover the geographic distributions of plants (phytogeography) and animals in California's Death Valley. [1] It was the first of a series of expeditions funded by an 1890 act of the United States Congress. [1] The expedition included biologists, naturalists, botanists, and zoologists.

Zabriskie Point is a part of the Amargosa Range located east of Death Valley in Death Valley National Park in California, United States, noted for its erosional landscape. It is composed of sediments from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up 5 million years ago—long before Death Valley came into existence.

The Amargosa Chaos is a series of geological formations located in the Black Mountains in southern Death Valley.In the 1930s, geologist Levi F. Noble studied the faulting and folding in the area, dubbing it the "Amargosa chaos" due to the extreme warping of the rock.
