Prior to his disappearance from the Cameron Highlands, Jim Thompson was seen at this cottage at about 4pm. After taking a look at the garden, he left the place. In 1945, its banking services were carried out at the Cameron Highlands Hotel (now the Cameron Highlands Resort). Later, it moved to the British Military Hospital (now S.K. Convent).
Cameron Highlands is the largest hill station, covering 71,220 hectares (175,988 acres) of land, as well as the highest, at an elevation of 1,830 metres (6,004 ft) above sea level. The concept of a hill station in the Malay Peninsula began during the colonial period of British Malaya .

Brinchang is the second largest township of Cameron Highlands, situated on a gently sloping plateau about 2 km after Tanah Rata or 3 km before Kea Farm. While relatively small in spread compared to Tanah Rata, Brinchang is the densest in development - a tourist hub with local flavours and style.
