WWE Books is a subsidiary of World Wrestling Entertainment, a division of TKO Group Holdings, a majority-owned subsidiary of Endeavor Group Holdings, created in 2002 to publish autobiographies of and fiction based on WWE personalities, behind-the-scenes guides to WWE, illustrated books, calendars, young adult books, and other general nonfiction books.
The book debuted at #3 on the New York Times Best Seller list on November 7, 1999, and reached #1 on December 5. [1] The book is followed by three sequels. The book's narrative is told mostly through photographs from Hart's career with text captions and wrestling stories. The book was met with mostly positive reviews, with Wrestling Observer Newsletter giving it their award for Best Pro Wrestling Book of 2020. It was published by WWE Books and distributed by Simon & Schuster in July 2004. The book's title was taken from Flair's famous catchphrase: "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!". [1]
