Jia Jia (Chinese: 佳佳; 28 July 1978 – 16 October 2016) was a female giant panda who resided at Ocean Park Hong Kong. At the time of her death, she was the oldest giant panda in captivity. [1] Jia Jia was born in the wilderness of Sichuan province and was rescued [2] in Qingchuan County around the age of two.
Jiaya Jia joined CUHK in 2004 as an assistant professor, and was promoted to full professor in 2015. He obtained his PhD degree in computer science jointly from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Microsoft Research in 2004. From March 2003 to August 2004, he was a visiting scholar at Microsoft.

An An was born in August 1986 in Sichuan, China, and originally lived in Wolong National Nature Reserve, from where he was sent to the Ocean Park in March 1999 as a gift from Beijing to Hong Kong, along with the female giant panda, Jia Jia.
