R U Still Down? was the name of several handwritten track lists 2Pac had written in 1993 and 1994 that featured both, unreleased songs and songs that would later be issued on Me Against The World and Thug Life: Volume 1. [3] Interscope Records originally planned to release an album under the same name in December 1995, during 2Pac's imprisonment.
The album is the result of a collaboration between Afeni Shakur's Amaru Records and Suge Knight's Death Row Records, and features previously unreleased works by Shakur. [7] The majority of the music compositions were remixed from their original state.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single "Dear Mama," which became one of Shakur's most iconic songs. Me Against the World was certified double platinum by the RIAA and is often cited as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
