John H. Burford (February 29, 1852 – September 2, 1922) was an American judge who served as justice of the Territorial Oklahoma Supreme Court from 1892 to 1906, serving as the final Chief Justice of that court from 1898 to 1903.
They met for 120-day sessions in Guthrie, Oklahoma. [2] George W. Steele of Indiana, the first Oklahoma territorial governor, scheduled the election of the first legislature for August 5, 1890. [1] The elected lawmakers met for the first time later that year. The Oklahoma Territorial Legislature met for the last time in 1905. [3]
The Logan County Courthouse in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at 301 E. Harrison Street, was built in 1907.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. [1]Designed by architect P. H. Weathers, it is a four-story buff brick building with "simplified Beaux Arts" as well as Classical Revival styling.
