Ferris State University (FSU or Ferris) is a public university with its main campus in Big Rapids, Michigan, United States. It was founded in 1884 as Big Rapids Industrial School by Woodbridge N. Ferris and became a public institution in 1950.

He was a professor of humanities at Ferris State University, who founded the Institute for the Study of Academic Racism (ISAR). [1] He earned his B.A. from Yeshiva University in 1970, his M.A. from City College of New York in 1972, and his Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988.
The second period of reconstruction took place in 1987 when Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, and Lake Superior State were all granted university status.
