The Dale Hollow Reservoir is a reservoir situated on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. The lake is formed by the damming of the Obey River, 7.3 miles (11.7 km) above its juncture with the Cumberland River at river mile 380. Portions of the lake also cover the Wolf River.
In March 1945, John Murphey and Rev. George W. Ferguson sold the property to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Morgan for $110,000. The new owners announced plans to operate a desert resort hotel on the property, then consisting of 80 acres. [5] By December 1945, the property was operating as the Hacienda del Sol Ranch Hotel. [6]

Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park is situated along the Highland Rim, a barren and hilly area where the Cumberland Plateau descends westward into the Central Basin. The site is approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the Wolf River, 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the Obey River, and 7 miles (11 km) east of the confluence of these two rivers at Dale Hollow Lake.
