The town itself was first named St. Hubertus before it became Chanhassen. The congregation was established by Father Aloysius Wewer in 1877. The 1887 building was actually the third building used by the congregation. It was built by John Geiser (1812–1902), who also carved the altar and built about 30 other churches in his lifetime.

Star Lake is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in the Adirondack Mountains of St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 809 at the 2010 census. Star Lake is in the Town of Clifton, but part of the community is in the Town of Fine. The community is located east of a very angular-shaped lake, also called Star Lake.
