Bremerton is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 43,505 at the 2020 census and an estimated 44,122 in 2021, [4] making it the largest city on the Kitsap Peninsula. Bremerton is home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Bremerton Annex of Naval Base Kitsap.
The rapid expansion included substantial diversification of the area. Between 1940 and 1945, the number of Black residents in Bremerton grew from just seven to 4,500. [2] As the city grew more diverse, the number of racist incidents also increased. [3] In 1943, Sinclair Park was constructed, consisting of 280 homes overlooking Sinclair Inlet.
