A 30,000-square-foot, 200,000 gallon wave pool that produces six-foot tall waves. Wild Waters was the largest expansion in Splash Lagoon's history following three years of planning and construction and it was once the largest indoor wave pool in the eastern U.S. Unlike many other waterparks, inner tubes are not allowed in the wave pool area.
The park is located on a 67-acre (270,000 m 2) piece of land along the banks of the Monongahela River. Sandcastle is owned by Palace Entertainment, subsidiary of Spain-based Parques Reunidos, who purchased original parent company Kennywood Entertainment. The company runs its original sister parks, Kennywood, Idlewild Park, and Lake Compounce.
The swimming pool was replaced by a heated wave pool in 2011. The addition was the park's single-largest capital improvement. [ 36 ] For the 2013 season the park added a lazy river and an expanded beach area. [ 37 ]
Not all lazy rivers are created equal. The best ones offer enough inner tubes so there's always one available when you’re ready to float.

Aquatopia includes over 37 waterslides, the most in Pennsylvania, including four body slides, a mat slide, five tube slides and four raft rides, in addition to a 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m 2) wave pool, lazy river, a children's play area, and a full-sized competition pool.
