On October 2, 2012, Nickelodeon ordered a second season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. [1] [2]Executive producer Ciro Nieli confirmed that Mutagen Man will have a large role in the second season and an hour-long episode featuring the voice actors of the original TMNT series (Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon, and Rob Paulsen) in their respective roles for a cameo.
The first part of the episodes aired on Nickelodeon on September 28, 2012, with the second part airing the following day on September 29, 2012. In the episodes, the Turtles visit the surface world in New York City for the first time since being mutated, and witness the Kraang kidnap April O'Neil and her father, Kirby.
The debut ratings were the highest for a Nickelodeon animated series since 2009, leading to a second season pickup in October 2012.
