The Cymru North and Cymru South are the two football leagues in Wales that form the second level of the Welsh football league system. They have semi-professional status clubs. The first year of their operation was 2019–20, with the Football Association of Wales owning and administering the Tier 2 leagues for the first time.

Since the 2020–21 season, the Football Association of Wales has run the third tier after a review of the Welsh league pyramid. Tier 3, called the Ardal Leagues is split into a Northern and Southern League, with each league divided into two regionally based divisions, giving North East, North West, South East and South West leagues, each consisting of a maximum of 16 clubs.
The league consisted of 16 clubs - 11 teams remaining from the previous season, two teams relegated from the 2022–23 Cymru Premier, and three promoted from the Ardal Leagues. Airbus UK Broughton and Flint Town United , who are both based in the North, were relegated from the 2022–23 Cymru Premier .
