Koblenz (UK: / k oʊ ˈ b l ɛ n t s / koh-BLENTS, US: / ˈ k oʊ b l ɛ n t s / KOH-blents, German: [ˈkoːblɛnts] ⓘ) is a German city on the banks of the Rhine (Middle Rhine) and the Moselle, a multinational tributary. Koblenz was established as a Roman military post by Drusus c. 8 BC.
Koblenz was one of the - at last - three Regierungsbezirke of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, located in the north-east of the state. The region was created in 1815 as part of the Prussian Rhineland , becoming part of the new state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946.
