When in other scenerios I make my own bait for targeting bullheads by (with an old blender and make sure the fatty grisle is cut out) blending beef liver then adding wheaties till you can make a dough bait with it.

    Swampy. Chicken livers are the best over all bait for bullheads. The trick to catching countless bullheas on liver is "ALL WAYS keep your livers cold & only use the freshset livers you can". Once the livers get hot or are old you can forget about them working so well for bullheads.

    here in arkansas our game and fish artifisily crossed a channel cat with a bull head and calls it an improved catfish.spotted up like a flat head but body shape is that f a bull head. be safe play nice. It looks EXACTLY like a white catfish. They average 2 pounds but occasionally can exceed 10.

    In Minnesota bullheads are considered minnows as long as they are under 7 inches and we can legally harvest them. A 7 inch or so bullhead makes nice cut bait. I run the fillet knife down one side and make a fillet cut. I cut off the head and don't use it. The fillets are very bloody and leave a nice scent trail.

Toss a container of chicken liver in the blender and then put it back into the container, poke some holes in it and toss in a 6oz weight and toss it out (with a line on it to get it back!) bullheads will be there in 15 minutes.

    The water temp was about 35 or 36, maybe colder down deep, and the hole I was fishing was a creek channel about 20' deep. As the water warms up, they move shallower, and can be caught easier. The warmer the better, but yes, they'll bite year round. They are tastier now, though, when the water's cold. edit- I just noticed you're in MN.
