0. Feb 15, 2016. #1. We have a Pain Intervention Physician who is injecting the Ischial Tuberosity. I have found several codes that would be appropriate per what he is injecting: 20610, 20550, 20551 and if the pudendal nerve is injected - 64430. Curious to know if any other facilities are performing these and if so what codes are you billing with.
Arthrocentesis, aspiration, or injection is the process of inserting a needle into a joint or bursa to inject medication, or aspirate fluid for diagnosis or pressure relief. CPT® codes for these procedures are 20600-20615. CPT® categorizes the codes based on the type of joint or bursa, and whether ultrasound guidance is performed.
Report a single unit of 20600-20611 for each joint treated, regardless of how many aspirations and/or injections occur in a single joint. CPT® allows you to separately report fluoroscopic, CT, or MRI guidance for needle placement during joint/bursa aspiration/injection, when performed. Claim the “without ultrasonic guidance” code for the ...
When looking at picture of the bursa of the hip/pelvic region. iliopsoas bursa and gluetus medius bursa do look small, but I did notice the ischial bursa overlying the ischial tuberosity looked similiar in size to the trochanteric bursa injection and as ckkohler stated 20610 could be reported for injection of this bursa.
Injection of the ischium is similar to saying injecting the femur - coding is typically not based on the bone but rather the target structure that is located near / on / attached / etc. to the bone. It could be the ischial busa - in which you would look at the bursa injection codes, i.e. 20610. It could be a ligament attachment - in that case ...
Dec 25, 2015. #3. Best answers. 0. Mar 2, 2012. #2. When you look at the pictures of anatomy of ischial bursa, gluteal bursa, and trochanteric bursa they seem separate from the location of the hip joint. When you look at psoas bursa or illiopectineal bursa, these structures are much closer to the hip joint and might be harder to support a separate injection from ...
CPT. ®. 27095, Under Introduction or Removal Procedures on the Pelvis and Hip Joint. The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT ®) code 27095 as maintained by American Medical Association, is a medical procedural code under the range - Introduction or Removal Procedures on the Pelvis and Hip Joint.
A 21-gage 2 inch needle was then directed under ultrasound guidance into each interspinous space, using a step down short axis technique and visualizing the needle tip enter the bursae. Into each I injected 0.75 cc of a mixture of 2 cc of Kenalog 40 mg/mL and 3 cc of lidocaine 2%. The patient tolerated this well.
