PAOK fans in Gate 4 of Toumba Stadium. PAOK always had great support from fans all over Greece. Before the foundation of Gate 4 there were various football supporters' clubs all around Greece. PAOK's first fan association was the club from Neapoli district of Thessaloniki, founded in 1963 and considered one of the oldest in Europe. [1]
3,000 PAOK fans descended to the Olympic Stadium of Athens for the game against Panathinaikos on 3 October 1999. A few hours later, on its way back to Thessaloniki, the double-decker bus of the Kordelio fan club collided with a truck and fell into a ditch in the Vale of Tempe, Thessaly. The stadium's official name is simply "PAOK Stadium", however it is commonly referred to as "Toumba" after the district where is located. It is also nicknamed "Cathedral" by PAOK fans. Toumba Stadium is infamous for its hostile atmosphere, a factor that led to the attribution of the Stadium as 'The Black Hell'.
It has 8,142 [1] seats for fans and 502 parking spots. PAOK's volleyball department had to wait until 2002, to begin using the stadium. The arena also includes a training facility, club offices, shops, and a museum dedicated to PAOK basketball club. The arena was renovated in 2016. [2]
The 2022–23 PAOK FC season is the club's 97th season in existence and the club's 64th consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. In addition to the domestic league, PAOK are participating in this season's editions of the Greek Cup and in the Europa Conference League. The season covers the period from 21 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
Most popular organized fan clubs are the "Snakes 4 Heraklion club" and "S.F Cretans 4 T. Papadopoulos".
