The Lagotto Romagnolo [a] is an Italian breed of dog. It originates in the marshlands of the Delta del Po in the eastern part of the Romagna sub-region of Italy. The name derives probably from the term “lagotto” which is the name of the inhabitants of the local town of Lagosanto .
The Barbet as it is known today is a fairly rare and recent breed development. Over the centuries, the breed existed in various forms, at times serving simply as a companion or guardian dog, but more often utilised as an all-around flushing or working dog .

The Romagnolo is a large and powerful donkey, with heights in the range 135–155 cm for jacks and 130–145 cm for jennies; [6]: 4 mean height, chest circumference and cannon-bone circumference are 137 cm, 158 cm and 18.4 cm for jacks, and 132 cm, 151 cm and 16.7 cm for jennies.
