The Gaon Digital Chart, now known as the Circle Digital Chart, is a chart that ranks the best-performing singles in South Korea. Managed by the domestic Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), its data is compiled by the Korea Music Content Industry Association and published by the Gaon Music Chart.
In 2010, the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCA) established the Gaon Chart, a weekly record chart that tabulates both physical and digital music sales. The KMCA divides certification for songs in streaming and downloads. For songs released before 2018, Gaon published the Gaon Observation Board that record songs that reach 100 million streams and 2.5 million downloads. The first song to be certified Platinum for both streams and downloads was iKon's "Love Scenario" in June and November 2018.
The data is compiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Music Content Industry Association based upon weekly/monthly physical album sales by major South Korean distributors such as Kakao Entertainment, YG Plus, Sony Music Korea, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music and Dreamus.
