Evergreen High School is a public high school located in Metamora, Ohio, United States. It was first opened in 1968 and as of the 2021–22 school year, serves 348 students in grades 9-12. Athletic teams are known as the Vikings and the school competes as a member of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.
The Evergreen Local School District was formed in 1964 with the merger of Fulton, Lyons, Metamora and Chesterfield districts in Fulton and Lucas counties. The district encompasses 128 square miles. Currently Evergreen operates four school—three public and one parochial school. These schools serve more than 1400 students.
The first settlement at Metamora was made in the 1830s. [4] A post office called Metamora has been in operation since 1841. [5]The name of Metamora is from a very popular 1829 play titled Metamora; or, The Last of the Wampanoags, by John Augustus Stone, that had a stage run over 60 years. [6]
