The Hillsborough River is a river located in the state of Florida in the United States. It arises in the Green Swamp near the juncture of Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties, and flows 60 miles (97 km) [3] through Pasco and Hillsborough Counties to an outlet in the city of Tampa on Hillsborough Bay.
Hillsborough River State Park is one of the eight original Florida State Parks created in 1938. The park was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps [4] (CCC), and some of the original structures remain, including the buildings that now house the administrative offices and Interpretive Center, the suspension bridge, and a section of fence.
Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is a Florida State Park located on the north and south sides of the mouth of Tampa Bay. When the original cantilevered Sunshine Skyway Bridge , carrying I-275 ( US 19 ), partially collapsed in 1980, due to the collision of a freighter on one of its pilings, it was replaced by the current bridges.
Much of Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park consists of an open grassy lawn that slopes gently towards the river in a series of wide terraces.Around this greenspace are several fountains, a large playground, a public boat dock, a dog park, several shaded pavilions, an amphitheater, various sculptures, a garden area designed by Dan Kiley, and a small concession kiosk with restrooms.
The C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir is a 15.5 billion US gallons (59,000,000 m 3) [1] reservoir which collects water from the Alafia and Hillsborough Rivers in central Florida. It is named for C.W. Bill Young , the U.S. Congressman from Florida's 10th congressional district . [ 2 ]
