As of the 2020 United States census , the township's population was 8,777, [ 8 ] [ 9 ] a decrease of 616 (−6.6%) from the 2010 census count of 9,393, [ 17 ] [ 18 ] which in turn reflected an increase of 500 (+5.6%) from the 8,893 counted in the 2000 census .

Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church is a historic church on Main Street (also called Daretown Road) in the Daretown neighborhood of Upper Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1767 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
The Elmer School District fully dissolved after the 2016–17 school year [7] and was absorbed by the Pittsgrove Township district, which paid $620,000 to acquire the Elmer School facility. [ 8 ] The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "CD", the sixth-highest of eight groupings.
The historic Pittsgrove Baptist Church is located in Daretown, while the historic Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church is located southwest of Daretown.
