For 1999, Ford redesigned the F-250 and F-350, introducing them as the first generation of the Ford F-Series Super Duty model line. While remaining part of the F-Series, the Super Duty trucks were designed with a different chassis, powertrain, and body design, as they are developed for heavier-duty work use.
2022 Ford F-150 Lariat interior. In December 2020, Ford announced the return of the Tremor trim level for the F-150. Available only in the SuperCrew cab configuration with a 5.5-foot bed, the Tremor is designed for higher off-road capability than the FX4 off-road package.
Ford's 10-speed 10R140 TorqShift automatic transmission was now standard with the diesel and 7.3-liter gasoline engines on the F-250 and all engines on the F-350; the 6-speed was still available, but only in the F-250 with the 6.2-liter engine and even the F-350 XL DRW with the Payload Package of the same engine (though this is a rare option).
Other updates included improved front seats with revised side bolstering, and new 20" wheels available for FX4, Lariat, and King Ranch. A navigation system was optional for the first time on the Lariat, King Ranch, and Harley Davidson trim. Ford offered an XLT Chrome Package, also known as XTR in Canada, as well as a Lariat Chrome package.
The thirteenth-generation F-Series follows traditional Ford truck nomenclature with XL, XLT, and Lariat trims; along with the Super Duty line, the F-150 also has premium King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims (the Raptor is exclusive to the F-150).
The seventh generation of the Ford F-Series is a range of trucks that was produced by Ford from the 1980 to 1986 model years. The first complete redesign of the F-Series since the 1965 model year, the seventh generation received a completely new chassis and body, distinguished by flatter body panels and a squarer grille, earning the nickname "bullnose" from enthusiasts.
