The Reserve passed to the Healesville Council in 1927 and became the Sir Colin MacKenzie Sanctuary in 1934. The first platypus bred in captivity was born in the Sanctuary in 1943 when David Fleay managed it. The park was placed under the management of the Victorian Zoological Parks and Gardens Board on 27 June 1978. [2]

Healesville is a town in Victoria, Australia, 64 km north-east from Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. The Lindheimer House is located in the city of New Braunfels, county of Comal, in the U.S. state of Texas.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Comal County, Texas in 1970, and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1936. [2]
His greatest achievement at Healesville was in 1943, when he bred the first platypus in captivity. His platypusary (platypus enclosure) incorporated features of their native streams. On about 5 November 1943, "Corrie" was born. No-one other than Fleay successfully bred and reared a platypus until 1998 when Healseville Sanctuary again had success.
