The 20R head has straight ports, so can flow better than the 22R head, improving high RPM power. The 20R head is a simple bolt-on modification for the pre-1985 block, but also requires the use of the 20R intake manifold, making it almost impossible (there's a lot of matching necessary) to use with the 22R-E EFI system. The original design of the cam-in-head engine was done by General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. [1] Although the camshaft is in the cylinder head, the CIH is not a true overhead camshaft design. Rather it can be thought of as a cam-in-block engine with a greatly shortened valve drivetrain. The camshaft is driven by a roller chain.
In most piston engines, the camshaft(s) are mechanically connected to the crankshaft. The crankshaft drives the camshaft (via a timing belt, timing chain or gears), which in turn actuates the intake and exhaust valves. [1] These valves allow the engine to inhale air (or an air/fuel mixture) and exhale the exhaust gasses. [2]
In a diesel, the sensor will control the fuel injection. The sensor output may also be related to other sensor data including the cam position to derive the current combustion cycle, this is very important for the starting of a four-stroke engine. Sometimes, the sensor may become burnt or worn out - or just die of old age at high mileage.
In sidevalve engines the head is a simple plate of metal containing the spark plugs and possibly heat dissipation fins. In more modern overhead valve and overhead camshaft engines, the head is a more complicated metal block that also contains the inlet and exhaust passages, and often coolant passages, Valvetrain components, and fuel injectors.
The 3T-GTE, first released in September 1982, is the most performance oriented version of the 1.8 L (1,770 cc) 3T engine. It features a hemi chambered 8v twin-cam head with twin-spark (two spark plugs per cylinder) design and swirl inlet ports for better efficiency. The EFI system saw the introduction of knock control.
Consumer Reports states that PriceGrabber places the ads and pays a percentage of referral fees to CR, [25] who has no direct relationship with the retailers. [26] Consumer Reports publishes reviews of its business partner and recommends it in at least one case. [27]
The cylinder head is composed of aluminum alloy and the intake manifold is made from aluminum. [5] 3RZ-FE in a Toyota Tacoma.
